The Effect of Job Stress among Vocational Rehabilitation Facility Workers on Job Capacity

Abstract

|
The purpose of this study was to conduct empirical analysis for the effect of job stress among vocational rehabilitation facility workers on their job capacity and provide basic materials in seeking measures for strengthening workers’ job capacity to give effective vocational rehabilitation services. A survey was conducted for about a month from September 1 to 30, 2020, workers in 646 vocational rehabilitation facilities, which are registered in the Korea Association of the Vocational Rehabilitation Facilities, for collecting data. Analysis was conducted for the collected 194 survey data using the SPSS 23.0 statistical program. The results of this study are as follows: First, job stress by sociodemographic variables among vocational rehabilitation facility workers had a significant difference depending on age. Second, job capacity by sociodemographic variables among vocational rehabilitation facility workers had a significant difference depending on age, academic background, marriage, positions and roles and monthly income. Third, job stress factors such as job demands, organizational system and lack of reward had a significant correlation with the subfactors of job capacity; job capacity had a positive correlation with job demands and a negative correlation with organizational system and lack of reward. Fourth, the result of analysis for the effect of job stress among vocational rehabilitation facility workers on their job capacity showed that job demands and lack of reward among the subfactors of job stress had a significant effect on job capacity. It was found that job demands had a positive effect on job capacity, while lack of reward had a negative effect on job capacity. Based on the results, the following recommendations are given to reinforce the job capacity of vocational rehabilitation facility workers.
